WATCH: Tucker Questions Kristi Noem on Decision to Not Sign Bill Barring Transgender Athletes from Women’s Sports
Republican South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem joined Tucker Carlson on Fox News Monday night in a contentious interview where Noem was pressed on her decision to not sign a bill banning transgender athletes in her state.
“You caved to the NCAA” Carlson stated in the heated nearly eight minute interview with South Dakota’s Governor Kristi Noem.
Governor Noem insisted the decision to send back a bill to her state legislature was in an effort win the battle in court and prevent further litigation from the NCAA.
The full interview between Carlson and Noem is shared below in a tweet from the Daily Caller.
"The bill that my legislature gave me is a trial lawyer's dream," the governor said. "It creates more and more litigation and regulation that's impossible to comply with for families and for school districts and people going forward."
Carlson stated that he believed the majority of South Dakotans are in favor of the bill and Noem has essentially vetoed the bill, silencing the voice of South Dakotans and ‘caving to the NCAA.’
House bill 1217, the “Promote Continued Fairness in Women’s Sports” act passed earlier this month and was delivered to Noem’s desk on March 10. Noem made the decision to send it back to the House for revisions.
