Senator Tom Cotton BLASTS NY Payments to Migrants Introduces “No Bailouts for Illegal Aliens Act”
Republican Senator Tom Cotton, an Army veteran, blasted the state of New York for its COVID relief fund that will give $15,000 to illegal immigrants.
The state of New York recently passed legislation that will give $15,600 payments to illegal immigrants who lost their jobs during the past year, primarily due to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s botched handling of the COVID crisis.
Meanwhile, America’s homeless veterans will not receive the same support, U.S. Senator Tom Cotton said in a tweet.
“New York's 1,200+ homeless veterans are ineligible for these $15,600 payments,” the Republican Arkansas Senator and war veteran tweeted.
Senator Cotton is not just going to sit on the sidelines though -- he is pushing legislation that would forbid government entities from using federal taxpayer funds to support illegal immigrants.
“Sen. Tom Cotton is seeking to restrict federal funding to local governments giving out benefits to illegal immigrants, arguing that citizens should get priority during the coronavirus pandemic,” the Washington Examiner reported.
The “No Bailouts for Illegal Aliens Act” would “withhold funding authorized under the American Rescue Plan Act from any State or unit of local government that provides relief funds or monetary payments through a program exclusively targeting illegal immigrants.”
