Rumors Swirling That Joe Manchin is Considering Leaving Democrat Party

The moderate senator is under pressure from hard left members of his party, including AOC and Bernie Sanders, to vote for trillions of dollars of spending.

West Virginia Democratic Senator Joe Manchin dismissed a rumor from Mother Jones magazine that he planned to leave the Democratic Party and register as an Independent.

There have long been rumors that the moderate Democrat would become a Republican, too.

“At a gaggle with reporters on Capitol Hill, Mr[.] Manchin responded, stating: “I have no control over the rumours,’” the Independent reported.

The liberal publication Mother Jones fueled the rumor spread.

“In recent days, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) has told associates that he is considering leaving the Democratic Party if President Joe Biden and Democrats on Capitol Hill do not agree to his demand to cut the size of the social infrastructure bill from $3.5 trillion to $1.75 trillion, according to people who have heard Manchin discuss this,” the publication said.
