RINO Senator Ben Sasse: Afghan Refugees “Welcome in My Neighborhood”
The Republican in name only (RINO) Senator recently said he would be fine if the Biden admin resettled refugees into his neighborhood.
Republican Senator Ben Sasse has come out in support of resettling thousands and thousands of refugees into Nebraska, even if that’s likely not what his constituents want.
Sasse, who made a name as staunch opponent of former President Donald Trump, recently shared his foreign policy, which we might call Afghanistan First.
“During an interview with Fox News Channel’s Chris Wallace, Sasse said American citizens have an obligation to bring anywhere from 60,000 to 80,000 Afghans to the U.S. for permanent resettlement,” Breitbart reported.
The liberal Republican told fellow liberal Chris Wallace that “when you fought on behalf of Americans to protect our people, you’re welcome in my neighborhood.”
A number of establishment Republicans have said they want thousands and thousands of Afghans, many of whom fled from defending their own country, to resettle across the country.
“Thus far, at least 10 Republican governors have urged Biden to resettle Afghans in their states, including South Carolina’s Henry McMaster, Maryland’s Larry Hogan, Massachusetts’ Charlie Baker, Utah’s Spencer Cox, Georgia’s Brian Kemp, Arkansas’ Asa Hutchinson, Arizona’s Doug Ducey, Iowa’s Kim Reynolds, Oklahoma’s Kevin Stitts, and Vermont’s Phil Scott,” Breitbart noted.
A political scientist who studies refugees and is also the wife of a diplomat to the Middle Eastern country warned in 2017 about what happened in Europe in 2014.
“[T]hey were committing sex crimes to a much greater extent than other refugees, even those from countries that were equally or more backward, just as Islamic and conservative, and arguably just as misogynist,” Cheryl Benard wrote.
Benard’s husband is Zalmay Khalilzad, a United Nations and Afghanistan Ambassador under President George W. Bush. He holds a similar role now under the Biden administration.
