REPORT: Meghan Markle Eyeing Bid for President, Consulting With Top Democrats
Meghan Markle is reportedly networking with top level Democrats to assist her in a potential run for President of the United States.
The Duchess of Sussex previously informed friends about her political aspirations and is now hoping her Oprah interview with record breaking numbers will help catapult her into the running for US President.
Markle has reportedly been openly networking with high-level Democrat fundraisers and strategists with the intention of making a run for the White House.
Markle who is currently 39, is thought to be considering 2024 as her campaign target year if President Biden, who will be 82, decides against running for a second term. If successful, this would make Markle the first female US president.
Markle’s biographer, Omid Scobie, previously said that the former actress “has her eyes set on the US presidency.”
“Meghan is the embodiment of the American dream. One day we may see Meghan become president,” the Markle biographer told a documentary.
A report from Vanity Fair also confirmed that the duchess would be seriously considering a run for President.
While Markle’s interest in running for President appears to be very serious, it remains to be seen if the voters of the Democrat party would take her candidacy seriously.
Markle should be considered a major long-shot for the Democrat nomination in 2024, regardless of what decision President Biden makes.
