Rep Lee Zeldin Announces Campaign to Challenge Governor Cuomo in 2022
A pro-Trump congressman will take on disgraced Governor Andrew Cuomo in 2022 in the New York governor’s race.
Pro-Trump Republican Congressman Lee Zeldin will run for governor in New York in 2022, setting up a potential showdown with Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is currently embroiled in a number of scandals.
“I’ll bring the kind of relentless, fighting spirit towards helping to save our state that Cuomo reserves for multi-million dollar self-congratulatory book deals, cover-ups, abuse & self-dealing,” Zeldin said in statements announcing his support, according to Breitbart.
“So, I have spoken to New Yorkers from all across this state, and it doesn’t matter whether you are middle income, you are from upstate, downstate, you are getting hit with new tax hikes now,” Zeldin said on Fox and Friends.
“And the fact that to save our state Andrew Cuomo has got to go, I’m announcing here this morning on your show that I’m running for governor of New York in 2022. And we are going to win this race. I’m all in; we are all in. Losing is not an option, and we have to turn things around,” Zeldin said.
Cuomo is currently embroiled in a number of scandals. He has been accused of ordering state employees to prioritize his family for COVID testing.
His administration also covered up thousands of nursing home deaths after he ordered them to accept COVID patients. He also has been accused by nearly a dozen women of sexual harassment.
