Governor DeSantis calls for investigation into Ben and Jerry’s over Israel boycott

The Republican governor has sent a letter to a state board that invests Florida government employee dollars, asking it to look into the matter.

Liberal ice cream company Ben and Jerry’s, which was bought out by mega-corporation Unilever, has said it will boycott Israel in support of Palestine (in reality, the boycott lends more support to the terrorist organization Hamas than the people of the region).

But if Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has his way, the company won’t be able to boycott Israel without punishment.

“As a matter of law and principle, the State of Florida does not tolerate discrimination against the State of Israel or the Israeli people, including boycotts and divestments targeting Israel,” Governor Ron DeSantis said in his letter to the State Board of Administration of Florida.

The Board of Administration invests money for the retirement funds of state employees, and it could refuse to invest money in Unilever, the owner of Ben and Jerry’s.

The Daily Wire explains:

Florida state law forbids the state from investing in any company that joins the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement targeting Israel. Supporting boycotts against Israel is outlawed in dozens of U.S. states as the BDS movement is viewed as antisemitic by its critics.

Do you think Ben and Jerry’s should change its position on boycotting the only secular democracy in the Middle East? Do you stand with Israel or Ben & Jerry’s? Let us know below!
