Former Trump advisor and U.S. Ambassador enters Pennsylvania senate race
Carla Sands, President Donald Trump's former economic advisor and ambassador to Denmark, kicks off her ‘22 U.S. Senate campaign with a massive rally.
Carla Sands entered an already crowded and GOP field that already includes 2018 lieutenant governor candidate and real estate developer Jeff Bartos, and 2020 Congressional candidates Kathy Barnette and Sean Parnell.
Sands made her case for why she’s the best choice to keep this seat red for the people of Pennsylvania, “Well first of all,” Sands said, “I didn’t lose my last race. And they all did.”
Both Parnell and Barnette lost to incumbent House Democrats in 2020. Jeff Bartos was the GOP nominee for Lt. Governor in 2018, running with former conservative State Senator Scott Wagner, who unsuccessfully challenged Democrat Governor Tom Wolf.
The winner of the primary will seek to replace Republican Senator Pat Toomey, who is not running for reelection.

Carla Sands drew two Presidential appointments in 2017, with President Trump appointing her to his Council of Economic Advisers and naming her as the US Ambassador to Denmark.
Her message for the campaign centers around “Putting Pennsylvania First.”
The race for Pennsylvania's open U.S. Senate seat is expected to be one of the nation's most competitive in 2022. Sands would be the first female senator in Pennsylvania’s history.
