Second Former Aide Accuses Andrew Cuomo of Sexual Harassment
A second woman has accused New York Governor Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment, an accusation that has spurred New York Democrats to launch an investigation into the allegations.
Charlotte Bennett, a former Executive Assistant and Health Policy Adviser in the Cuomo Administration first told the New York Times that the governor harassed her in the height of the COVID pandemic response last spring.
Bennett claims the governor asked her inappropriate questions about her romantic relationships which she interpreted as sexual overtures.
Bennett said she believed it was clear the governor wanted to “sleep with her” and it made her “horribly uncomfortable and scared.”
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio along with several other New York Democrats have called for independent investigations into Governor Cuomo.
Both Lindsey Boylan and Charlotte Bennett have now come forward against the embattled Governor of New York.
Governor Cuomo has denied both Boylan and Bennett’s allegations.
In a statement responding to Bennett’s allegations the failing governor of New York said that he had, “never made advances toward Ms Bennett, nor did I ever intend to act in any way that was inappropriate.” He added that he had requested an independent review of her accusations and that Bennett had “every right to speak out.”
Cuomo’s personal life and interactions with other leaders across the state are under intense scrutiny due to the governor’s failed COVID-19 policies that led to thousands of deaths in nursing homes.
Now Cuomo finds himself potentially under investigation for both his mishandling of COVID-19 and the alleged cover-up that ensued along with fresh sexual harassment allegations being made against the once lauded governor.
