Oreo Cookies Tweets Out ‘Trans People Exist’ After Senate Hearing Featuring Transgender Health Nominee

The official twitter feed for Oreo cookies made the apparent decision to weigh in on the day’s hottest debate topic, transgender rights. The company tweeted out that “trans people exist” at the very end of the day.

The simple 19 character tweet issued by Oreo Cookies would cause a furry of speculation over the companies’ intent.

Dr. Rachel Levine was nominated by Biden to be the assistant secretary for health at the Department of Health and Human Services, a role that typically oversees the agency's public health initiatives.

Thursday included a contentious day of testimony where conservative Kentucky senator Rand Paul blasted Levine on topics including hormone treatment for trans teens.

Video footage of the Senator’s question is shared below:

The Oreo tweet in question also came on the same day the House of Representatives passed the Equality Act, which amends the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include protection of sexual orientation. It has not passed the Senate as of yet.

Many conservatives on social media accused the iconic cookie company of attempting to politicize their brand and involve themselves in political discourse.

Fox News contributor Lisa Boothe tweeted at the company asking, “Why even take a political stance on this?”

Do you believe the cookie companies’ tweet was intended to be political? Will you be purchasing any of their products in the future? Comment your thoughts below!
