WATCH: Rep Steve Scalise Reminds Congress That Baseball Shooter Was A Fan Of Rachel Maddow

Congressman Steve Scalise (R-LA) submitted an FBI report detailing how his shooter was a fan of MSNBC and Bernie Sanders into the Congressional record on Wednesday during a hearing on ‘violent disinformation’ in media.

Scalise brought listeners back to June 14th, 2017, the day that a gunman shot at over a dozen members of Congress almost killing him, “The gunman was motivated by hyper-charged rhetoric that he was hearing from the left,” he concluded.

Scalise’s testimony takes place during the Energy and Commerce Committee’s hearing “Fanning the Flames: Disinformation and Extremism in the Media.”

Video footage of Scalise’s powerful moment is shared below:

Scalise submitted into the Congressional record the FBI report which analyzed his shooter, James Hodgkinson’s motivations and writings.

Hodgkinson was a Bernie Sanders volunteer during the 2016 election and was a fan of MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.

Scalise added that he did not blame anyone other than the shooter for what took place on the baseball field that infamous day.

“I blame the shooter,” Scalise said.

Prior to the hearing, California Reps. Anna Eshoo (D) and Gerry McNerney (D) sent a letter to television broadcasters questioning why they stream Fox News, Newsmax and One America News on their service.

Is Congress overreaching by attempting to crack down on media for expressing political opinions? Was Scalise right to invoke the 2017 Congressional Shooting? Comment your thoughts below!
