Baseball Legend David Wells BLASTS MLB Over All-Star Game: ‘I Don’t Watch Baseball Anymore’
Former Yankee great David Wells ripped MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred for pulling the All-Star game out of Atlanta over new election integrity laws.
David Wells let loose when he appeared on Fox News Radios’ the Brian Kilmeade Show.
“I’ve had a lot of dealings with Rob Manfred back in my playing days, and I never liked the guy,” Wells said to Kilmeade.
“To me, how do you change the games, the dynamics, and hurt a city like Atlanta that really needs some income in that situation?”, said the lefty powerhouse.
The legislation passed in Georgia tightened restrictions on absentee voting requiring signature verification and a photo ID.
Wells went on the rip the current state of Major League Baseball. “If I was playing right now, I would not wear Nike,” the pitcher said over the company’s deal with Collin Kaepernick.
“I would rip it off. I would cut a hole in my jersey, and not have Nike on anything, and if I got suspended, so be it,” Wells went on to say. Nike is currently the jersey supplier for Major League Baseball.
“It’s the kneeling for the national anthem and disrespecting our flag, it’s disrespecting out military guys, and I don’t stand for it.”
The All-Star game which was originally planned for Atlanta will now take place in Denver, Colorado on July 13th.
