Caitlyn Jenner comes out against transgenders playing sports on girls’ teams in school, claims it’s unfair
Recently announced California Governor candidate Caitlyn Jenner came out against allowing transgender athletes who were born male to compete in girls’ sports.
Most notably, Jenner is a former gold medal Olympic athlete who famously came out as transgender in 2015.
Jenner told TMZ that, “This is a question of fairness, that's why I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls sports in school, It just isn't fair, and we have to protect girls sports in our schools.”
Jenner’s statements come as Republican states across the country pass legislation that restrict entry to girl’s sports to those who were born female.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has pledged to sign a bill in Florida where the legislature just passed transgender sports legislation.
West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice signed a similar bill on Wednesday despite warnings that sports groups may protest by not holding college tournaments in the state.
The NCAA in 2016 moved championships out of North Carolina in response to a bill about the gender-based use of sex-segregated bathrooms.
Bills seeking to ban transgender girls from competing on female sports teams in public schools have been enacted this year in Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi.
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem issued an executive order on the subject.
