Suspected school shooter given welcome-home party after spending one day in jail
The shooter shot four people because he was bullied over having nice things, his family said.
A black high schooler who shot four people, allegedly, was welcomed home with a party by his family, after spending just one day in jail.
“The Texas teen who injured four people when he allegedly opened fire at his high school celebrated his release from jail with a twisted welcome home party – even as one of the victims remains in a coma,” the New York Post reported.
“Timothy George Simpkins, 18, who attends Timberview High School in Arlington, posted $75,000 bond at Tarrant County Jail on [October 7] and headed to home confinement,” the Post said. “The student, who was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, was seen in videos shared in social media enjoying a celebratory family gathering in his kitchen, The Sun reported.”
A woman, a relative who does not appear to be his mom, said that Simpkins had to shoot those people because otherwise he could have committed suicide (she did not explain why he could have just not shot himself or anyone, and instead went to counseling or perhaps spoke to a priest).
“Well uh due to the fact that they were blessed financially and so he was able to you know get things maybe that other children could not get or teenagers could not have and so because he wore nice clothes and because he drove nice cars and because he had the things he was like a target,” the woman said.
The relative of the adult man accused of shooting four people said bullying must end, without any apparent sense of irony.
