Senate Confirms Transgender Nominee Rachel Levine as Assistant Health Secretary
The United States Senate voted to confirm Joe Biden’s Transgender nominee to serve as Assistant Secretary of Health at the Department of Health and Human Services.
By a vote of 52-48, Rachel Levine, who previously served as Pennsylvania’s secretary of health, became the first transgender federal official to receive confirmation by the senate.
Levine led Pennsylvania’s Covid-19 response while holding no credentials in immunology or infectious diseases. In a scandal similar to Governor Andrew Cuomo, Levine reportedly had her own mother removed from a Pennsylvania nursing home before requiring them to accept Covid-19 positive patients.
Levine was also a staunch supporter of the Black Lives Matter protests seen across the country in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
Following the historic vote, that included Yes votes from Republican Senators Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins, constitutional lawyer Jenna Ellis encouraged her followers to '“keep speaking Truth.”
Newsmax White House Correspondent, Emerald Robinson tweeted that the vote by Senators Collins and Murkowski should single the end of their political careers.
