Report: Prosecutors Will Charge Trump Organization Staffer Over Unpaid Taxes

The prosecution will likely allege that the Chief Financial Officer failed to properly file taxes.

The three-year taxpayer-funded investigation into the Trump Organization has finally found someone to charge with a crime.

“The Trump Organization and its CFO Allen Weisselberg are set to be charged with tax-related crimes by the Manhattan district attorney’s office on Thursday,” according to the Wall Street Journal and The Hill.

“Weisselberg is the subject of a criminal tax investigation by the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr.,” The Hill reported. “Prosecutors are reportedly looking into whether benefits given to Weisselberg and other executives were represented in the company's financial record-keeping system and if the company paid taxes on those benefits.”

The investigation appears to be politically motivated. Prosecutors have struggled to pin anything on Trump -- it’s telling that the much-hyped investigation has only resulted in a charge which amounts to an accounting problem.

Do you think New York has a political animus against Trump? Should New York City focus more on charging criminal looters instead of businesses that didn’t pay all their taxes? Let us know below!
