President Trump calls idea to run for U.S. House ‘interesting,’ open to possibility

Trump did not rule out the idea of running for a U.S. House seat from Florida, an idea floated for several months by conservatives.

President Donald Trump said that he is interested in the idea that he run for a U.S. House seat in Florida in 2022 and use the position to become the Speaker of the House, should Republicans win it back in the midterms.

The idea was first floated by people like former Trump advisor Steve Bannon.

“Former President Trump on Friday called a proposal that he run for the House in 2022 to try to win the Speaker’s gavel ‘interesting,’ though the chances of him actually doing so remain low,” The Hill reported.

Trump gave a wildly popular speech to the North Carolina GOP convention on Saturday as he seeks to re-enter the public stage in advance of the 2022 midterms and potential run in 2024.

He also is set to restart his popular and well-attended rallies this summer. His presence on the national stage will be a direct challenge to the current administration, which has struggled out of the gate to control illegal immigration, promote economic prosperity and instill a sense of law and order.

Trump slammed Joe Biden for failing to lead the country.

“Crime is exploding. Police departments are being ripped apart and defunded. Can you believe that? Is that good politics, defund our police?” Trump said, among other comments.

He also predicted major victories in 2022.

“We’re going to have a tremendous 2022, just like we did frankly, 2020,” Trump said.
