PA Congressional Candidate Mike Marsicano Hoping GOP Voters Forget He Ran Alongside Hillary Clinton in 2016
Twice-failed candidate Mike Marsicano is attempting to ride the coattails of the MAGA movement in his latest campaign for congress, hoping voters forget he ran as a Democrat alongside Hillary Clinton in 2016.
A late entry into the race for Pennsylvania’s 8th district, Mike Marsicano is attempting to run in the Trump lane in the Republican primary. Since his campaign announcement in March, Marsicano’s long recorded history as a liberal democrat has come to light. He switched his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican in 2019.
Mariscano is a familiar name to Democrats throughout Northeast Pennsylvania from his scandal-plagued years serving as the Democratic mayor of Hazleton and his return to politics in 2016 when he launched a Congressional bid as a Democrat running on the same ticket as Hillary Clinton, calling what he saw from President Trump “deplorable.” While challenging popular Trump Conservative Congressman Lou Barletta in 2016, Marsicano echoed her anti-American rhetoric against then-candidate Donald Trump. Marsicano attended countless Democrat events while seeking their support for the Democratic nomination for then PA-11.
Again questions are being if Mike Marsicano is using the America First/MAGA movement as a last-ditch effort of desperation to save his failed political career.
Marsicano is responsible for making Hazleton, PA, where he once served as mayor, a safe haven for illegal immigrants. According to locals, the fallout of Marsicano’s tenure as mayor has been a sustained wave of violent crime and destruction of once-safe family-friendly neighborhoods. Due to Marsicano’s failure to fight illegal immigration, Hazleton became a poster child for its ravages and the crime and drugs associated with it. Cleaning up the illegal immigration disaster left by Marsicano propelled Hazleton’s next mayor, Lou Barletta, into national prominence.
Hazleton boasted a budget surplus prior to Marsicano’s administration, but Marsicano ran up a sizable budget deficit prior to being ousted as mayor.
Marsicano is challenging true America First conservative fighter and 2020 nominee Jim Bognet for the Republican nomination for Pennsylvania’s 8th district. Bognet was the Republican nominee in 2020 and was up big on election night until an influx of mail-in ballots arrived in the dead of night. Bognet released the following ad calling out Marsicano’s flip-flop and history of Democratic politics.
Do you think Mike Marsicano is just another phony- conservative grifter? Is it ethical for Marsicano to run as a pro-Trump candidate after supporting Hillary Clinton in 2016? Comment your thoughts below!
