Ohio Lawmakers Move to Ban Vaccine Passports
Republicans in Ohio’s House of Representatives announced legislation to prohibit “vaccine passports” in response to the Biden Administration’s push for a nationwide system.
Republican State Representative Al Cutrona announced he was introducing the legislation Tuesday morning.
“Ohio is not New York,” said Cutrona in a press release, “I anticipate introducing this bill to ensure that the liberties of all Ohioans are instilled throughout this vaccination phase of the pandemic.”
The Ohio Rep continued to say that he would, “NEVER support signaling out those who choose not to (vaccinate).”
The bill was quick to gain support among other prominent Ohio Republicans, including former Ohio State Treasurer and current US Senate candidate Josh Mandel.
State Representatives Mike Loychik and Scott Wiggam were among the first to sign on in support of Cutrona’s bill.
The legislation is expected to be met with opposition from Ohio’s Republican Governor Mike DeWine, who has been the subject of fierce criticism from conservatives for his pro-lockdown policies and overall handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The push to outlaw vaccine passports comes on the heels of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ announcement that he intends to ban “vaccine passports” in his state by executive order.
