Newark, New Jersey builds 700-pound statue of George Floyd
The repeat criminal died in May, 2020 in custody of Minneapolis police officers.
Black Lives Matter activists and social justice warriors in New Jersey can now pay tribute to a man killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
“The City of Newark paid tribute to George Floyd on Wednesday, unveiling a 700-pound bronze statue in his honor outside City Hall,” PIX11.com reported.
The golden calf statue of Floyd “was donated to the city and will be on display for at least a year in collaboration with the Division of Arts and Cultural Affairs,” the local news site said.
“Hopefully it inspires those who walk by to be more active, take part in activism,” Mayor Ras Baraka said.
