New Policy Allows NPR “Journalists” to Participate in Political Activism
The new policy breaks with journalistic norms that journalists try to at least appear neutral.
Taxpayer-funded National Public Radio recently announced that its journalists can attend political rallies and publicly show their support for different movements, which could include Black Lives Matter or abortion.
“NPR journalists may participate in civic and cultural events that do not pose conflicts of interest,” NPR said. “However, it is always wise to anticipate ahead of time what political or partisan issues or causes might emerge within a civic or cultural event to avoid ethical problems.”
“NPR editorial staff may express support for democratic, civic values that are core to NPR's work, such as, but not limited to: the freedom and dignity of human beings, the rights of a free and independent press, the right to thrive in society without facing discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, disability, or religion,” NPR also said.
The problem is that liberals have manipulated language in a way that allows them to put things like “discrimination on the basis of..sexual identity” as a human rights issue.
In reality, that seriously calls into question if the organization can fairly cover things like laws requiring that men compete against men in sports, or opposition to unlimited abortion.
