George Floyd mural in Ohio DESTROYED after being struck down by lightning

A George Floyd mural in Toledo was reduced to rubble by a recent lightning strike, many tried to claim it was vandalism before the facts became public.

A Toledo, Ohio mural that honored George Floyd, a criminal and drug-user who allegedly held a gun to a woman’s stomach, has been destroyed. There are several theories for what happened.

The mural “was reportedly struck by lightning Tuesday,” WZZM reported.

Others think it was vandalized, though the mayor of the Ohio city said it may never truly be known and pledged support for replacing it.

“We will work with the Arts Commission and the artist to make sure that a new mural can replace the old, so that the message at the core of this artwork can be heard,” Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz said.

“The Toledo Police Department told WTVG-TV  that witnesses reported the mural was destroyed by lightning,” the Indy Star reported, “and the station's doppler radar showed a lightning strike in the area early Tuesday evening.”
