Detroit Police Chief To Challenge Michigan’s Governor Whitmer in 2022

James Craig, the police chief for Detroit, has said he will run against failed, left-wing governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2022 as a Republican candidate.

Failed left-wing governor Gretchen Whitmer may face a tough challenge in 2022, as the scandal-plagued governor tries to retain her seat.

James Craig, the police chief of Detroit, is expected to soon announce his bid. The black Republican is considered a formidable challenger to Whitmer.

"I'm a lifelong public servant," Craig told The Detroit News.

The law enforcement officer “has spoken to both state and national Republican officials about a possible gubernatorial run, according to multiple reports,” The Daily Wire reported. “His discussions have reportedly included Ron Weiser, the Michigan Republican Party chairman, as well as GOP Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, the chair of the Republican Governors Association.”

As governor, Whitmer has mandated heavy lockdowns that have led to massive job losses across the state. Furthermore, she has repeatedly broken her own rules, traveling to Florida to visit family.

Her husband also tried to evade his wife’s lockdown measures and go boating, while millions of hardworking Michigan residents struggled during Whitmer’s devastating lockdowns.

Furthermore, Democrats would have trouble running on their socialist agenda of defunding the police against a black police chief. While Democrats lurch to the left, running against a black Detroit police officer could prove hard for the Party that has to defend Whitmer’s already extreme record on a number of issues, including abortion, guns and lockdowns.

Do you think Whitmer should step down at the end of her term? Do you think Michigan needs a Republican governor to help lead the state back to a booming economy? Share your thoughts below!
