WATCH: Democrat LA City Council Member Forgets How to Recite Pledge of Allegiance

Los Angeles City Council Member Kevin de Leon botched the Pledge of Allegiance on Tuesday when he was asked to recite it at the beginning of their City Council meeting.

De Leon is a relatively popular politician in the area having formerly served as the State Senate President Pro Tem and even attempted to unseat Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) in 2018. He has been the city council representative for District 14, a heavily Latino district in LA since 2020.

When asked to recite the pledge of allegiance that virtually all Americans have been required to recite their entire lives, De Leon replied with the following:

It would be an honor. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. Under-visible, um, pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. Oh, boy. For which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Whew.

Video footage of the embarrassing mishap is embedded below:

The City Council member who cannot recite the pledge of allegiance attempted to make light of the incident even pleading for donations during a pandemic.

While serving in the state Senate, De León made a name for himself by pushing for gun control, and programs to help illegal aliens.
