Dave Rubin calls Caitlyn Jenner gubernatorial run a “stunt”

Self-described “classic liberal” commentator Dave Rubin said he is disappointed in Caitlyn Jenner’s gubernatorial run and called it a “stunt” during a recent show.

California resident and commentator Dave Rubin does not appear ready to vote for Caitlyn Jenner in the upcoming gubernatorial recall election.

He expressed frustration at failed attempts to get Jenner on his show.

“If we don’t at least hear back… the Caitlyn Jenner is a complete sham,” Rubin said. “I don’t believe it’s a real campaign.”

“My hope was that legit, well funded candidates would appear to go against cartoon villain Gavin Newsom,” Dave Rubin said on May 20 on Twitter.

“Sadly, none really has, and as I said on the show yesterday it’s pretty obvious that the @Caitlyn_Jenner thing is just a PR stunt and reality show.”

“I’m deciding what to do,” Rubin wrote.

Jenner initially gained conservative support for vowing to support small businesses, but as of late, has come out in favor of keeping illegal immigrants in this country. Jenner also reportedly supports abortion.

However, Jenner’s social issue positions may be too tough for many conservatives, even though Jenner has traditionally Republican views on cutting regulations and lowering taxes.

Rubin said on a May 6 Newsmax show that he even donated $50 to Rubin and initially seemed supportive of Jenner, including the former Olympian’s opposition to men competing in women's sports.

“She’s getting the issues right,” Rubin said on May 6, and originally had said Jenner was the “best candidate.”
