Beto O'Rourke Reportedly Considering Run For Texas Governor In 2022

During an interview with an El Paso radio station, two-time failed candidate Beto O’Rourke said that he is considering a run for governor against current Texas Governor Greg Abbot.

When Governor Abbott heard the news, he mocked O’Rourke, saying heck yes he’ll take your guns and added “Heck yes, he’s for open borders. Heck yes, he’s for killing the energy sector and fossil fuels in the state of Texas. I don’t think that’s gonna sell real well.”

Beto attempted to run for U.S. Senate against Ted Cruz in 2018 and lost by three points. He also led a failed presidential campaign for the 2020 election cycle.

Abbott currently has a 47 percent approval rating, mostly due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has cast a shadow of unpopularity across most governors.
