Animal-rights activists push through law that may spark bacon shortage and price increases

The ballot measure passed overwhelmingly in deep-blue California, but the law is beginning to create unintended consequences.

Liberal animal-rights activists are going to hit the pocketbooks of middle-class Americans under crushing new regulations that will harm farmers and ultimately consumers.

A 2018 California law is going into effect. The law will require farmers to give animals more room to live before being processed and butchered. Only 4% of pig farmers can currently comply with the big government regulations, which will likely squeeze profits for farmers and make consumers pay more.

California also sells these products to Americans, potentially harming people in other states

Americans are already paying more at the grocery store and the gas pump under President Biden’s out-of-control inflation and his anti-gas and anti-oil regulations.

“At the beginning of next year, California will begin enforcing an animal welfare proposition approved overwhelmingly by voters in 2018 that requires more space for breeding pigs, egg-laying chickens and veal calves,” USA Today reported. “National veal and egg producers are optimistic they can meet the new standards, but only 4% of hog operations now comply with the new rules.”
