1619 Project’s Nikole Hannah-Jones Rejects UNC’s Tenure Offer, Will Head to Howard University
Hannah-Jones, who was not eligible for tenure, said she would sue the University of North Carolina if she was not granted tenure.
Nikole Hannah-Jones has declined an offer of tenure at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Hannah-Jones has no experience in teaching but believed she was entitled to immediate tenure.
She’s best known as the creator of the controversial and historically inaccurate “1619 Project” that pushes a radically leftist view that America was founded on slavery.
Hannah-Jones made sure to gain media attention by claiming racism and sexism were behind the decision not to immediately give her tenure. She had actually signed a legally binding contract in February 2021 for a five-year term at UNC Chapel Hill before backing out of her commitment.
She will now head to Howard University, a historically black college that President Donald J. Trump saved from financial hardship, along with dozens of other HBCUs.
Do you think Hannah-Jones should apologize for demanding tenure and then rejecting it once offered? Should she be thankful for getting a job she lacks qualifications for? Let us know below!
