Teenage Girls Accused of Killing DC Uber Eats Driver Given Plea Deal, No Time in Prison
The two teen girls who were charged with murder after allegedly attempting to hijack the car of a Pakistani immigrant working for a Uber Eats have reached a plea deal with prosecutors, the Daily Mail reported.
The Daily Mail reported that the plea deal reached ensures that will not be held past the age of 21 and will not be placed in a prison facility.
"The suspects are a 13-year-old from Southeast DC and a 15-year-old from Fort Washington, Maryland," police reported. Their names were not released as they are minors.
A GoFundMe was started to help the family of Mr. Anwar. He was described as a "hard-working Pakistani immigrant who came to the United States to create a better life for him and his family.”
He is survived by a wife and two children in the United States, and an adult son with four grandchildren in Pakistan.
Support for the family was immense, and at the time of writing, Mr. Anwar's family has received over $1 million from more than 30,000 donors.
Mohammad Anwar, 66, died when police said the girls, armed with a taser, sped off in his car as he clung to the driver's side with the door open and crashed seconds later just outside the ballpark of the Washington Nationals.
