George Floyd Had a Drug Problem, Girlfriend Confirms During Trial
George Floyd, a black killed at the hands of Minneapolis police officers, struggled with drugs, his girlfriend recently confirmed.
The trial for Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin continued today. Chauvin is accused of murdering George Floyd in May 2020.
Part of his attorneys’ defense is bringing up Floyd’s drug use -- his toxicology report shows he had drugs, including meth, in his system.
Now, there is further confirmation as part of the legal record of the case, as his girlfriend confirmed in testimony today that Floyd was driving with his drug dealer when the police, including Chauvin, pulled him over.
“George Floyd’s girlfriend just identified the man he was with in the car as his drug dealer,” reporter Jack Posobiec tweeted on Thursday.
"Both Floyd and I, our story, it's a classic story of how many people get addicted to opioids. We both suffered from chronic pain. Mine was in my neck and his was in his back,” Courtney Ross said, according to the Star Tribune.
Conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has previously commented on Floyd’s drug use, brought it up again to defend herself against past criticism she received.
“George Floyd’s girlfriend testifying that they were both drug addicts who purchased drugs on the day that he died has got me thinking,” Owens said. “[A] lot of people owe me an apology for being upset that I told the truth a year ago.”
“His toxicology report confirms she’s telling the truth.”
Cartoonist Scott Adams said that maybe Floyd’s drug dealer should be the one charged with murder.
“Whoever gave/sold Floyd Fentanyl should be on trial for murder,” Adams said.
