Congressman Introduces Bill to Send National Guard at US Capitol to Help Secure Border
North Carolina Republican Congressman Greg Murphy has recently introduced legislation to move National Guardsmen currently in D.C. to the Southern border.
Republican Congressman Greg Murphy said that National Guardsmen are needed at the Southern border to help with the developing crisis.
There has been a surge of illegal immigrants coming to the United States in response to President Biden’s withdrawal of many Trump-era border security and immigration policies.
The “Guard the Border Act” would “direct the Secretary of Defense to reassign 95 percent of the members of the National Guard deployed to the National Capital Region to the southern land border of the United States.”
“The Biden Administration has refused to acknowledge this crisis but have asked for assistance from FEMA,” Murphy said in a press release. “If our men and women in the National Guard are going to be deployed to provide assistance with a domestic issue, then the real issue is at our southern border and not in D.C. Congress should direct them immediately to help secure our border and provide humanitarian aid to those in custody.”
“There is no longer a crisis in D.C., but there is one at the southern border,” Murphy said on Fox News.
“Congress should immediately take up my legislation that would reassign troops in D.C. to the border where their help is actually needed.”
The border has become unsafe due to Biden’s laxity on immigration. Caravans of illegal immigrants and asylum-seekers have gathered at the border, demanding that Biden let them into the country.
Murphy commented further on this issue in a recent interview with Breitbart.
“But at the same time, several thousand miles away, we have a crisis at our southern border because Biden said, basically, open up the doors, come on in, we’re going to bring you in,” Murphy said. “[A]nd then now, as of last week — we’re going to offer you amnesty. The Border Patrol is being overrun, facilities are over capacity, and it’s a crisis at our border.”
