Did Mr. Potato Head Just Lose His Gender?
The Associated Press released a story Thursday morning that caused social media to erupt in emotions of outrage and in some cases support — the AP said that Mr. Potato Head would become gender neutral moving forward.
“Mr. Potato Head is no longer a mister,” the Associated Press headline read causing a storm of reactions Thursday morning.
The liberal organizations and commentators were quick to praise the decision and point out that in real life, potatoes do not have genders.
Conservative commentators on the other hand, rose to the occasion to make some fun of the now gender neutral potato and his ilk.
However less than 24 hours after the Associated Press Reported Mr. Potato Head would no longer be a Mister, Hasbro would clarify that only the Brand would change its name, not the actual figurines.
Conservative pundit and commentator Matt Walsh mocked the toy company for backtracking on their decision in a matter of hours.
All information considered, it would appear that Mr. Potato Head will be remaining a ‘mister,’ at least for the time being.
