Broadway mandates vaccines and masks for all audience members
The policy could draw a federal lawsuit, due to the low vaccination rate against black New York residents.
Liberal Broadway has instituted an exclusionary policy that will have a disparate impact on black Americans.
“Broadway will require audiences to be fully vaccinated and wear masks at all shows, New York's theatre industry announced Friday, as the US steps up mandatory vaccinations,” Newsmax reported.
“All performers, backstage crew and theatre staff will also have to be vaccinated, the Broadway League said in a statement,” the conservative news site said. The Broadway League is the trade association that represents theatres.
However, the policy could draw a federal legal challenge under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, since it would disproportionately harm black Americans.
For example, only 31 percent of black New York City residents have received complete vaccination against coronavirus.
