Chicago Teachers Union Leader Fights Schools Re-Opening From Pool in Puerto Rico
A Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) leader, Sarah Chambers, has been demanding students remain online and classrooms remain shutdown because it is “unsafe,” while she reportedly is in Puerto Rico poolside on vacation.
Chicago’s local WGN reported that Sarah Chambers, an executive board members and area vice president for the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) has, “led four strikes” and is opposed to the re-opening of schools in her area. Chambers even tweeted about her displeasure about being forced to do her job.
Chambers reportedly tweeted on Thursday for special education teachers to not return to work on Monday because it’s unsafe.
Unfortunately for Chambers, she unwittingly posted a picture on Instagram the same day that shows her poolside in Puerto Rico talking about seafood.
Once local media outlets covered the story, conservative media pundits jumped on Chambers via Twitter.
The top reactions are embedded below:
Chambers has yet to make any statements about her decision to travel to Puerto Rico amid a pandemic she claims makes being in a classroom too dangerous.
The CTU is currently still threatening to strike if the district moves forward with their plan to open schools back up.
