Atlanta City Councilman Who Voted to Defund Police Has Car Stolen

Antonio Brown voted to defund the Atlanta police force of $73 million.

Last year, the Atlanta City Council was one of a number of far-left government bodies that quickly rushed to defund the police of millions of dollars.

One of those politicians, Antonio Brown, now finds himself thanking the police after they helped him recover his stolen Mercedes coupe. Brown is running for mayor on a platform that includes taking away money from law enforcement to give to intervention and community initiatives.

“Four people jumped into Councilman Antonio Brown’s 2016 Mercedes 450 and took off while he was speaking to a business owner, according to an Atlanta police report,” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

“The theft comes within weeks of Brown announcing his mayoral campaign amid an increase in violent crime across the city,” AJC reported. One has to wonder if defunding the police has led to an increase in violent crime.

“Homicides are up at least 52% from this time last year, while the number of shootings has increased more than 40%, according to the Atlanta Police Department’s most recent crime data,” the local paper reported.

Brown is also in a host of legal troubles, unrelated to his political office.

“Brown is under indictment on several federal fraud charges,” the Atlanta newspaper said.

“Prosecutors said the councilman lied about his income on applications to obtain loans and credit cards used for personal purchases. All of the alleged incidents occurred years before he won the council seat in 2019.”
