Texas cracks down on Big Tech censorship

As Big Tech companies work to silence conservative views, they could now face a lawsuit in Texas.

Texas is taking steps to protect the free-speech rights of American citizens.

“Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signed a law that cracks down on social media censorship. It prevents Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook from restricting content based on a person's viewpoint,” NEWS 4A reported.

“House Bill 20 prevents social media companies with more than 50 million monthly users banning users simply based on their political viewpoints,” Governor Abbott’s office explained. “The law also requires several consumer protection disclosures and processes related to content management on the social media sites to which the bill applies.”

“Social media websites have become our modern-day public square,” Governor Abbott said at the signing. “They are a place for healthy public debate where information should be able to flow freely — but there is a dangerous movement by social media companies to silence conservative viewpoints and ideas. That is wrong, and we will not allow it in Texas.”

Just this week, Google has come under criticism for silencing pro-life group Live Action News for posting. It came after far-left Daily Beast wrote a hit piece against the pro-life group, LifeSiteNews reported.

Do you think this is a good law? Do we need to hold Big Tech companies accountable? Share your thoughts below!
