BREAKING: Twitter reportedly “on track” to reach deal with Elon Musk as soon as Monday
News broke late Sunday night that Twitter was in the final stretch of negotiations with Elon Musk to purchase the company and a deal could be struck as soon as Monday.
The richest man in the world, Elon Musk, is reportedly closing in on a deal that would send shockwaves around the world.
Axios reported early Monday morning that, “many Twitter shareholders reached out to Twitter after Musk outlined a detailed financing plan on Thursday, and urged the company not to let the opportunity for a deal slip away.”
The report added that Twitter is also, “looking into whether regulators in any of its major markets would object to Musk owning the company.”
The New York Times added that, “the company’s 11-member board was negotiating with Mr. Musk into the morning on Monday over his offer to buy the social networking service and take it private.”
The deal would be worth $46.5 billion with Musk funding nearly 50% of that deal with his own money and the rest with an assortment of bank partners.
Reports cautioned that an, “agreement is not yet final and may still apart, but what had initially seemed to be a highly improbable deal appeared to be nearing an endgame. The situation involving Twitter and Mr. Musk remains fluid and fast-moving, the people with knowledge of the situation said.”
Twitter has declined to comment thus far about the accuracy of the reports. Musk has not responded to comment either.
If the deal were to be made, Conservatives who value freedom of speech will be elated with the news and filled with hope.
Musk has pledged to take Twitter private and become a platform guided by providing freedom of speech. Musk has also stated he plans to stop fake bots from taking over the platform.
