AOC And Donald Trump Jr. Agree on Robinhood Controversy In Rare Moment On Twitter
Retail investing platforms such as Robinhood angered millions of Americans by restricting the purchase of stocks such as AMC, Nokia, Gamestop, and Blackberry. The anger was so universal that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Donald Trump Jr. agreed that this restriction by the platforms hurt Americans and only benefitted Wall Street.
“This is unacceptable. We now need to know more about @RobinhoodApp’s decision to block retail investors from purchasing stock while hedge funds are freely able to trade the stock as they see fit. As a member of the Financial Services Cmte, I’d support a hearing if necessary,” tweeted Ocasio Cortez on Thursday morning.
Donald Trump shared the same resentment as AOC for the platforms that are robbing Americans of their money.
“It took less than a day for big tech, big government and the corporate media to spring into action and begin colluding to protect their hedge fund buddies on Wall Street. This is what a rigged system looks like, folks!” tweeted Trump Jr. on Thursday morning as well.
Republicans and Democrats alike have voiced their condemnation of the actions being taken by retail investment platforms.
Barstool Founder and President, Dave Portnoy, tweeted out how bizarre it was that AOC and Donald Trump Jr. were even on the same side in this case.
One thing is for sure, if AOC and Donald Trump Jr. agree on a problem, it’s most likely a major issue for all Americans.
