Transgender woman wins golf tournament in Florida, sets sights on LPGA Tour

Hailey Davidson was once an average college golfer playing as a male at Christopher Newport University in Virginia, now the transgender female athlete is attempting to go pro on tour for the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA).

Nine years ago, Scott Davidson was an average golfer at Christopher Newport University, a small college in Virginia.

Now, Davidson hopes to dominate the LPGA, playing as a female, despite originally being born as a man with male hormones and a male body.

“Hailey Davidson, who underwent sex reassignment surgery in January, shot -2 over two rounds last week in the National Women's Golf Association match at Providence Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. She edged LPGA player Perrine Delacour by one stroke to win the event,” The Blaze reported.

Davidson beat seven other women in a miniature event. Davidson hopes to use this victory to gain entry to bigger LPGA tournaments.

“I'm not just going to be stuck on mini-tours,” Davidson said, according to Golf Week. It was “[Davidson’s] first professional event in six years,” after the golfer lost a PGA qualifying event in 2015, while playing against other men, like him.
