White House Calls Pete Buttigieg A “Role Model” For Taking 2-Months Paid Paternity Leave

The transportation secretary plans to continue to take time off to take care of the newborns he adopted with his partner.

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg has been at home on paternity leave for two months. This comes as the country faces major transportation issues, including sky-high gas prices and ships that cannot unload goods, stuck at ports.

Buttigieg’s absenteeism has even raised the notice of liberal publications. “While U.S. ports faced anchor-to-anchor traffic and Congress nearly melted down over the president’s infrastructure bill in recent weeks, the usually omnipresent Transportation secretary was lying low,” Politico reported.

“They didn’t previously announce it, but Buttigieg’s office told West Wing Playbook that the secretary has actually been on paid leave since mid-August to spend time with his husband, Chasten, and their two newborn babies,” Politico reported.

Meanwhile, hard-working Americans are getting hurt by Biden’s failure to lead on key economic and transportation issues.

“Nearly half a million shipping containers are stuck off the coast of Southern California as the ports operate below capacity,” Business Insider reported on October 6.
