Wealthy Atlanta neighborhood pushing to create their own city as crime surges
The wealthy Buckhead neighborhood wants to form its own city, after far-left activists and politicians pushed to defund the police force of millions of dollars, leading to a surge in violence.
Residents of Buckead, a neighborhood in Atlanta, are fed-up with far-left politicians instituting anti-police policies that are leading to a surge in crime.
So they’re trying to form their own city.
“The Buckhead City Committee now reports it has over $550,000 in the bank and in pledged donations, and is planning a feasibility study on the creation of ‘Buckhead City,’” the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
The efforts are being aided by high-dollar Trump fundraiser Bill White.
“White is confident his group will be able to reach its goal of raising $1.5 to $1.6 million by next April,” the local paper reported. “Those funds, he said, could be spent on lobbyists and outreach to residents to promote the idea of cityhood.”
The effort has allies at the Georgia Capitol, as legislation will be needed to allow the new city to be formed.
