WATCH: Ohio Dems Throw Screaming Tantrum During House Session, Break Antique Desks

The Democrat tantrum was intended to interrupt Republican Representative Jena Powell’s floor speech in support of her amendment to protect female athletes from being forced to compete with biological males.

Ohio House Democrats staged a strange stunt to try and halt an amendment to protect women’s sports from inclusion in a bill that would have allowed college athletes to profit from their name, image, and likeness.

WATCH:

“Across our country, female athletes are currently losing scholarships, opportunities, medals, education and training opportunities.

This amendment will require schools that are part of the OHSAA to designate separate teams of participants of the biological sex. No school interscholastic conference or organization that regulates inner scholastics shall permit biological males to participate on athletic teams or an athletic competition only for biological female participants.”

Ohio Representative Jena Powell

Representative Powell began her floor speech but was soon interrupted by multiple Democratic members loudly and repeatedly banging on their desks to bring a halt to the legislative proceeding.

The Democrats’ disruption tactics against Powell were swiftly condemned by colleagues, including Republican Mike Loychik, who called the outburst “embarrassing and childish.”

Despite the bizarre meltdown, the amendment was added to the bill. However, the full bill appears to have stalled as a result of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine circumventing the legislature and signing an executive order permitting college athletes to profit from their name, image, and likeness.

Representative Powell released a statement on the executive order where she called out the Governor for failing to address the critical issue.

Do you agree with Representative Powell’s amendment? Should the Democrats who interrupted her speech be punished? Let us know in the comments below!
