Trump-backed David Perdue to challenge Brian Kemp for Georgia governor

The former Republican senator is taking on Brian Kemp in the 2022 Republican primaries.

Republican voters who are worried about how Brian Kemp handled voter integrity issues in the 2020 election will have another choice in the 2022 primaries.

“Former Georgia Republican Senator David Perdue is expected to soon launch a bid for governor of Georgia, according to a source familiar with the matter, setting up a high-stakes primary challenge against incumbent Republican Governor Brian Kemp,” CBS News reported.

Perdue’s website recently went live.

“Perdue, a businessman who had reportedly been prodded by former President Donald Trump to enter the race, will now go up against Kemp as the incumbent governor was gearing up to challenge Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams, who last week announced her decision to run for the the position again after narrowly losing to Kemp in 2018,” Insider.com reported.
