SCOTUS Dismisses Lawsuits Against Donald Trump in Major Legal Victory

On Monday the Supreme Court brought an end to lawsuits over whether President Donald Trump illegally profited off his presidency, citing the cases were no longer relevant now that the President had left office.

The Supreme Court brought an end to two emoluments lawsuits against President Trump on whether he illegally profited off his presidency, saying the cases have no practical value now that Trump is no longer in office.

The lawsuits sought financial records showing how much state and foreign entities have paid the Trump Organization to stay and eat at Trump-owned properties across America.

The order was issued without comment or dissent from any Supreme Court Justice and may indicate that the Justices are not interested in wading in on President Trump’s personal and business affairs.

The centerpiece of the multiple cases was the Constitution's Emoluments Clause, which has faced little to no judicial interpretations since it was written almost 250 years ago.

After three long years in the courts, neither Emoluments Clause case even reached the stage that involves fact finding, showing just how ineffective the courts are at enforcing the clause.

The case dismissal was announced as part of a routine orders list the court issued Monday morning.
