REPORT: Federal prosecutors covered up Hunter Biden criminal probe until after the election
A U.S. Attorney reportedly refused to move forward on announcing a criminal probe of President Joe Biden’s son until after the election.
The Department of Justice knew in summer 2020 that it had enough evidence to continue its criminal investigation of Hunter Biden, but refused to do so, according to a recent Politico report.
“The probe had reached a point where prosecutors could have sought search warrants and issued a flurry of grand jury subpoenas,” Politico reported. “Some officials involved in the case wanted to do just that. Others urged caution. They advised Delaware’s U.S. Attorney, David Weiss, to avoid taking any actions that could alert the public to the existence of the case in the middle of a presidential election.”
That’s exactly what Weiss did, refusing to release the details of the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden. President Donald Trump had sought to make Hunter Biden’s questionable business dealings part of his campaign -- not publicizing the criminal probe was a major assist to Joe Biden.
Breitbart added other important context to the story.
“After Joe secured his election victory, Hunter announced on December 9 that he was under a federal investigation for tax issues, insisting he is innocent,” Edwin Mora noted. “The existence of the Hunter probe came to light weeks before the election amid the controversy over incriminating files found in a laptop purportedly belonging to Hunter.”
