New York City Council will remove Thomas Jefferson statue
The city caved to demands from far-left activists who called Jefferson a racist.
New York City Council has caved to leftist activists who wanted Thomas Jefferson’s statue removed from its chambers.
“A vote by a little-known New York City committee on Monday signals the end to a two-decade effort to remove a statue of Thomas Jefferson from the chambers of the New York City Council,” CNN reported.
“The Public Design Commission, which oversees New York City's collection of public art, voted 8-0 Monday to relocate the statue at the behest of members of the City Council's Black, Latino and Asian Caucus,” the liberal news site reported.
“City Council Speaker Corey Johnson spearheaded the effort to remove the statue in the summer of 2020 with a letter to de Blasio. Johnson wrote that he and Black, Latino and Asian members of the City Council found it ‘inappropriate,’” NBC News reported.
