Kamala Harris claims limited access to “OfficeMax” and “Kinkos” reason to oppose Voter ID laws
She criticized a requirement that seems non-existent -- having people send in photo copies of their identification.
Vice president Kamala Harris recently made an unserious argument against voter ID, arguing that people in rural areas might not have access to Kinko’s or other office stores to make copies.
Voter ID requirements generally require a voter to show identification at the polls or to write down the identifier number on their absentee ballot, such as from their driver’s license.
“You’re going to have to Xerox or photocopy your ID to send it in to prove that you are who you are,” Kamala Harris said recently. They might live in areas where “there’s no Kinko’s, there’s no OfficeMax near them,” Breitbart reported.
“People have to understand that when we’re talking about voter ID laws, be clear about who you have in mind and what would be required of them to prove who they are,” Harris said. “Of course, people have to prove who they are, but not in a way that makes it almost impossible for them to prove who they are.”
“Two-thirds of states expect you to provide identification to let you vote at the polls,” USA.gov concluded.
