GA-6 Candidate Rich McCormick Caught Faking Endorsements from Marjorie Taylor Greene and others
The carpetbagging establishment GOP candidate for congress in Georgia’s 6th District, Rich McCormick, was recently exposed for falsifying a number of endorsements including one from Marjorie Taylor Greene.
McCormick announced his plans to switch from Georgia’s 7th Congressional District (where he ran and lost in 2020) to the 6th Congressional District earlier in the week.
During his announcement, McCormick released a list of 28 GOP Members of Congress who he claimed endorsed him in his run for office, including conservative patriots like Marjorie Taylor Greene, Madison Cawthorn, and Jody Hice. The problem is that it appears they DID NOT endorse McCormick.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution contacted the 5 offices in Georgia where McCormick claimed endorsements from and found that just 1 of the 5 actually endorsed him.
McCormick said 28 sitting U.S. House members had endorsed him in his new race.
That isn’t the case.
Of the five Georgia Republicans listed as backing McCormick, only one actually has: U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter.
Representatives for the other four — Reps. Jody Hice, Andrew Clyde, Rick Allen and Marjorie Taylor Greene — all said McCormick’s statement is inaccurate. While they all supported him last year when he lost to Carolyn Bourdeaux in the 7th District, none of them endorsed McCormick in the 6th District primary.
The Patriots Gazette verified through independent sources that Madison Cawthorn did not endorse McCormick in GA-6 either.
While publications have not yet reached out to all 28 claimed endorsements, it’s safe to assume many of them most likely did not intend to endorse McCormick in GA-6.
When McCormick was asked about the falsified information his response was, “it is what it is” and that he “made a mistake.”
Faking endorsements, even for an establishment failed candidate like Rich McCormick, is never a good idea and it’s unclear if the swampy tactic will put McCormick in hot water with the base of Republican voters.
While McCormick lives in Georgia’s 9th Congressional District, he actually ran in Georgia’s 7th Congressional District in 2020. Now McCormick is attempting to run in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District.
McCormick has been criticized by conservatives for raising money off donors to run against Democrat Representative Carolyn Bourdeaux in the 7th District, only to later take that money to switch to the Republican leaning 6th District.
America First candidate Jake Evans announced his candidacy for the 6th District over the summer. RINO candidate Meagan Hanson also announced her run for the 6th District earlier in the year.
Do you think faking endorsements is dishonest? Should Rich McCormick return the money raised for GA-7 to his donors? Should McCormick run in the district he lives in? Comment your thoughts below!
