DirecTV to drop major conservative news outlet
AT&T-owned DirectTV will drop conservative One America News Network in April 2022.
DirectTV officials have decided to limit the conservative news and commentary options for consumers by dropping One America News Network from its channel offerings.
“DirecTV, which is owned by AT&T Inc. and TPG via a joint venture, has offered OAN to customers since April 2017 after Herring Networks won a lawsuit that forced the satellite-TV provider to carry the channels,” Bloomberg reported.
Conservative commentator Brigitte Gabriel questioned whether CNN’s failing ratings were a part of the company’s decision-making process.
Far-left activists have wanted to get OAN removed from DirectTV and other networks because of its coverage of election integrity issues. This is another victory for leftists and a defeat for freedom of speech and debate.
Conservatives have begun to fight back, with Patriotic Boycotts listing DirectTV on its list.
Republican Senator Rand Paul said he is cancelling his DirectTV subscription after hearing the news.
“Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) says he is canceling his subscription to DirecTV after the company announced plans to drop pro-Trump conservative cable channel One America News (OAN) from its listings,” The Hill reported.
