Department of Justice drops investigation into Cuomo’s nursing home deaths

Republican leaders had asked the DOJ to look into if there were civil rights violations.

President Joe Biden’s DOJ has made a decision that will help his friend New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

It announced that it will no longer investigate the 2020 decision by Governor Cuomo to order nursing homes to accept recent COVID patients. The decision likely killed thousands of elderly and medically fragile people -- and then the governor covered up the disastrous results.

“We have reviewed the information provided by these states along with additional information available to the Department,” an assistant attorney general said last week. “Based on that review, we have decided not to open a CRIPA investigation of any public nursing facility within New York, Pennsylvania, or Michigan at this time,” the assistant AG said, according to the New York Post.

“Where is the justice for nursing home victims and their grieving families? These deadly orders contradicted the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s] guidance, and needlessly endangered the most vulnerable among us to the deadly COVID-19 virus,” Louisiana Republican Steve Scalise said. He had asked for the investigation.
